Four Texans named second-team All-Pro

Posted Jan 6, 2012

Texans running back Arian Foster, left tackle Duane Brown, inside linebacker Brian Cushing and cornerback Johnathan Joseph have been named second-team 2011 All-Pro by the Associated Press.

Texans left tackle Duane Brown, inside linebacker Brian Cushing, running back Arian Foster and cornerback Johnathan Joseph have been named second-team 2011 All-Pro by the Associated Press.

No Texans made the first team in All-Pro voting, which is done by a national panel of 50 media members.

It's the first All-Pro recognition for Joseph, who also made the Pro Bowl this season, and Brown. Foster, the Texans' other 2011 Pro Bowler, was first-team All-Pro in 2010. Cushing earned second-team honors as a rookie in 2009.

Joseph missed out on the first team by one vote. He had 18 to Green Bay cornerback Charles Woodson’s 19. Darrelle Revis of the New York Jets led the way at cornerback with 48 votes.

Brown finished third among tackles with 11 votes, trailing Philadelphia’s Jason Peters (27) and Cleveland’s Joe Thomas (19). Eric Winston was fifth with 10 votes, one behind Brown and San Francisco’s Joe Staley (11) for a spot on the second team. He had the most votes of any right tackle.

Chris Myers was fourth at center with seven votes. Ahead of him were Pittsburgh’s Maurkice Pouncey (13), Carolina’s Ryan Kalil (11) and the Jets’ Nick Mangold (11).

Cushing got 13 votes, fourth among inside linebackers. San Francisco’s Patrick Willis (32) and NaVorro Bowman (16) both earned first-team honors, followed by Kansas City’s Derrick Johnson (16).

Foster was a distant fourth among running backs with three votes, behind Jacksonville’s Maurice Jones-Drew (40), Philadelphia’s LeSean McCoy (29) and Baltimore’s Ray Rice (24).

Texans rookie defensive end J.J. Watt received one vote as a defensive tackle. Inside linebacker DeMeco Ryans also received one vote.
