Posted Feb 26, 2014

The Texans signed tight end Zach Potter as a free agent on Wednesday.

The Texans signed tight end Zach Potter, their first free agent of the 2014 offseason, on Wednesday. Potter, 6-foot-7 and 269 pounds, spent the majority of his career with Jacksonville, but also had brief stints with the New York Jets and St. Louis. He did not play last season.

Potter, a defensive end at Nebraska, was converted to tight end in the NFL. The undrafted rookie was originally signed by Jets but he spent most of his first season on the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad. He was placed on the Jaguars active roster on December 21, 2009. Potter, 27, played four seasons in Jacksonville with career totals of 11 receptions for 83 yards and also contributed on special teams.
