Bob McNair pleased with O'Brien's staff

Posted Jan 10, 2014

Although no official announcements has been made from the team, Founder, Chairman, and CEO Bob McNair is pleased with how O’Brien has assembled his group of assistants.

Offices at Reliant Stadium are filling up as the Texans finalize their coaching staff under Bill O’Brien. Although no official announcements has been made from the team, Founder, Chairman, and CEO Bob McNair is pleased with how O’Brien has assembled his group of assistants.

“Well, he’s brought in people from different areas, some of them he had coached with in college, and some of them in the NFL,” McNair said. “They are all a very bright group, very energetic. I like the concepts that he believes in and all of these people understand how he thinks the game should be played."

O’Brien’s assistants all share a similar perspective in their coaching fundamentals. The group will be a cohesive one, according to McNair, with a few more additions coming very soon.

“We’ve still got a couple of places to fill,” McNair said Friday. “Hopefully we’ll even know today on some of those. I think they could be dynamite if we can pull those off.”

The Texans parted ways with 17 assistant coaches, including defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. Bill Kollar, defensive line coach, has been the only coach from the 2013 staff announced so far to remain.
