BWTB: Posey putting in work

Posted Apr 30, 2014

Wide receiver DeVier Posey is happy to be immersed in the team's offseason conditioning program.

The offseason workouts roll on for the Texans, and after a week off, Phase II began on Monday morning.

For wide receiver DeVier Posey, working with his teammates has been special. Even though he's entering his third NFL season, it feels new.

"It's different than anything I've ever been in," Posey said Tuesday. "I feel like a rookie. I feel like a freshman. Whatever 'novice' term you want to use."

As outlined by the NFL, the first two weeks were limited to strength and conditioning work, while the next three weeks will implement "individual player instruction and drills, as well as team practice conducted on a “separates” basis. No live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills are permitted."

This time last year, Posey was coming off an achilles injury he suffered in the playoff loss at New England. He'd just begun jogging, and was still "walking around gingerly". Getting to work out with new strength and conditioning coach Craig Fitzgerald has been eye-opening.

"The thing that's been so different is just the variety of stuff we get to do," Posey said. "Fitzgerald is a great strength coach, and the stuff he has us doing, it's kind of bringing us together right now."
