The Houston Texans are proud to partner with GE and Houston Methodist to launch the Play Safe Football Clinics! These clinics will highlight the importance of concussion awareness, proper hydration, and nutrition.
Special guests will include experts in related fields, Houston Texans Ambassadors, and Texans Cheerleaders! Participants will hear from guest speakers and then take part in interactive football drills.

This free clinic will provide moms with the latest safety information in concussion awareness, proper hydration and nutrition to prepare them for the upcoming football season. These classroom-style instructions and interactive football drills will take place in the Houston Methodist Training Center.

Youth Football Camps
Every summer, youths participate in the Texans Youth Football Camps. In 2012, more than 200 youths were instructed by top area high school coaches at the Texans’ practice facility, the Methodist Training Center.
High School Coach of the Week
The Texans High School Coach of the Week program is designed to aid and promote high school football throughout the Houston area. One coach is selected each week and receives a $1,000 grant for his school’s football program. Additionally, one Coach of the Year Award winner receives a $2,000 grant. The U.S. Army and FS Houston are associate sponsors of the program, which honored 10 high school coaches in 2012.
Gatorade Jr. Training Camp a Play 60 Initiative
The Gatorade Junior Training Camp is a grassroots community outreach program that is part of the NFL Play 60 initiative. Nearly 2,000 youths participated in camps in 2012. This program is designed to teach elementary-aged students football-related skills in a non-contact environment. Two schools are selected from a contest each year. One Texans player, two cheerleaders, and Toro will visit the school for an assembly and drills. Visit the following links for contest rules and more information on this program.
NFL Grassroots Grant
This NFL program provides non-profit, neighborhood-based organizations with financial and technical assistance to improve the quality, safety and accessibility of local football fields. The NFL provides grants of up to $200,000 for capital improvement projects. Recent Houston-area grant recipients include the Houston Texans YMCA (2008), KIPP Northeast (2009) and Jeff Davis High School (2010)
