First Down Dads
In 2012, the Texans enhanced the First Down Dads program to create activities and events that provide fathers and their kids with opportunities to spend one-on-one time together. More than 250 participants spent a morning running through football drills with Texans coaches and learning valuable tips on how to be better fathers. The First Down Dads Movie Night was hosted in the Methodist Training Center, where dads and their entire families were treated to a showing of “Air Bud” while enjoying snacks on the practice field.

The three charities who received the most nominations were rewarded with a $5,000 donation from Halliburton. Additionally, each charity chosen received tickets to a home game during the 2012 season, as well as air time on the Houston Texans Radio programs to promote their organizations.

Each winner and team captain signed autographs in a local Whataburger and received $2,500 for their charity of choice.
