Vote which Texans player you think should be the August  Community Player of the Year in the poll below.

  Kareem Jackson
As a first round draft pick in 2010, cornerback Kareem Jackson immediately made an impact on the field. Though in the past few seasons, he’s used his celebrity to make even more of an impact in the Houston community. He founded the Kareem Jackson Foundation, an organization that focuses on families with children battling cancer. With this foundation, he’s hosted several fundraising events in Houston and also donates tickets each game to the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Family Alliance. He also showed his support for Texans’ initiatives, such as the Houston Texans Youth Football Camp and the Texans Foundation Charity Golf Classic. Jackson has become a fixture in the Houston community as he continues to play well on the field.
  Whitney Mercilus
Linebacker Whitney Mercilus has quickly become a fan favorite in his last three seasons with the Texans. His great attitude and incredible work ethic make him a fixture on the Texans’ defense, but he also has been able to connect with football fans as well. Mercilus attended the Texans’ Draft Day premier, commenting on his experiences going through the NFL Draft. He also had the crowd laughing at the Houston Texans Insider Dinner and attended the Houston Texans Foundation Charity Golf Classic. This year, Mercilus will be the face of “TORO Takes the Bull Out of Bullying”, a school program that focuses on a positive educational environment. Whitney Mercilus continues to be one of the most impactful Houston Texans, on and off the field!
  DJ Swearinger
Safety DJ Swearinger is known for his energy and personality on the field, bringing a special energy to the Houston Texans defense. But Swearinger really shines when he has the chance to interact with young football fans, whether it is running drills and signing autographs at the Club Seat Holder Field Day or hosting Heads Up Football clinics on the regional marketing trips. Swearinger also spent his offseason giving back to his hometown by hosting a football camp in South Carolina for underprivileged youth. DJ Swearinger loves using his platform to interact with youth in his community and will continue to be a positive influence in Houston for years to come.
